KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court sentenced a jobless man to six months in prison for possessing 0.009g of methamphetamine.
Macmiller Enderson, 28, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan to the charge under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 12(3) of the same Act.
The incident occurred in front of a jewellery shop at Jalan Stampin Baru around 1.30 pm on May 13.
Police apprehended Enderson after he appeared to act suspiciously near the shop.
An inspection revealed a plastic packet containing the crystalline substance in his bag, later confirmed by a chemist’s report as methamphetamine.
The prosecution was led by Insp Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang. Macmiller faced the charges without legal representation.
