BAU: An unemployed man was nabbed by police on suspicion of being involved in substance abuse in Kampung Seromah, Jalan Jambusan Monday (July 20).

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the raid at an unnumbered house was carried out by a team from the Bau Police Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) around 7.30am.

The team found the 28-year-old man in the house and conducted a body inspection on him.

“After inspecting the individual’s brown bag, the team found a transparent plastic packet containing crystalline substances suspected to be syabu, weighing 0.68g with a street value worth RM60,” he said in a statement.

Poge pointed out that the man, who had a criminal record, tested positive for drugs and a remand order was sought immediately.

Poge noted that the case would be investigated under Section 12 (2) and Section 15(1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

If convicted, the offender could be sentenced to an imprisonment not exceeding five years or a fine not exceeding RM100,000, or both.
