SIBU: A 41-year-old man was slapped with RM1,000 fine while three others escaped after they were found carrying out cross-country running activities in Kemuyang forest yesterday (Feb 13).

District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said a patrol team carrying out movement control order (MCO) monitoring spotted the suspect coming out of the forest, believed to have just finished doing cross-country activities around 6pm.

“The suspect was detained and fined RM1,000 for violating the MCO.

“However, the suspect’s three friends managed to escape after seeing the police,” he said.

He pointed out that leisure activities such as cross-country are among the activities prohibited during the MCO period.

The suspect had violated the MCO rules under the Infectious Diseases Prevention and Control (Measures in Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.
