KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg yesterday morning paid his last respect to late Dato James Jimbun Pungga at his residence here. Johari later went for his work visit to Mukah.
The late Dato James Jimbun Pungga died at 5.40 am on 18 April, at the Serdang Hospital, Selangor after a long illness and suffering from heart complications.
He died at the age of 77 years old and was a former Kapit Member of Parliament for three terms from 1986 until 1999 representing Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).
Jimbun also had held a post as Chairman of PBB Baleh apart from becoming a member of the party Supreme Council from 1986 until 1999.
Besides that, he also served as Song District Officer before being appointed as Kapit District Council Chairman for a year in1985 before resigning to join politics.
Jimbun who was from Nanga Entawau, the last Iban settlement at Ulu Baleh, Kapit left behind his wife, Datin Senorita Linang and four grown up children to mourn his loss.
Also present were Chief Minister’s wife Datin Amar Dato Juma’ani Tun Tunaku Haji Bujang; Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
