KUCHING: Sarawak’s eFootball team fought valiantly but fell short in the battle for the bronze medal, losing to Johor this morning (Aug 24).
Johor’s Aieman Shaffrie Salleh Huddin dominated Sarawak’s Hazwan Faiq Hailwan, securing a 3-0 sweep in the best-of-five series.
Sarawak struck first in the opening match, scoring in the 78th minute. However, Johor leveled the score in the 88th minute, forcing the match into extra time.
Sarawak regained the lead in the 105th minute, but Johor equalized once more with a goal in the 117th minute.
The match ended 2-2, and Johor won the penalty shootout 3-0.
In the second match, Johor secured a commanding 1-0 victory with a 17th-minute goal.
After two intense matches, Sarawak responded in the third match, taking the lead with a goal in the 40th minute.
However, Johor equalised in the 61st minute and sealed their victory with a second goal in the 68th minute.
