KUCHING: Sarawak’s Nurfara Ain Nabiela Abdullah Hafiz had to settle for a 23rd-place finish after leading the first four laps of the women’s 108km individual road race at the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma).
Despite her strong start, she was overtaken in the final two laps, missing out on a medal.
Khairunnisa Aleeya Saifulnizam of Johor emerged as the champion, clinching the gold medal with a recorded time of 3 hours, 34 minutes, and 34 seconds.
Nur Fitrah Shaari of Kedah followed closely, earning the silver medal, while Nyo Ci Hui of Perak secured the bronze by finishing in third place.
In the team event, Kedah dominated with a total recorded time of 10 hours, 43 minutes, and 42 seconds, earning them the gold medal. Johor claimed silver, and Terengganu took the bronze.
The race, which started at 8am, covered a distance of 109.8km over six laps along Jalan Pehin Sri Adenan Satem.
A total of 38 riders participated, with nine failing to complete the race.
