BINTULU: The Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) is urging the local community to support its efforts in promoting integrity, essential for the area’s ongoing development.
BDA’s general manager Datuk Muhammad Yakup Kari said that combating corruption, power abuse, and other integrity issues was a high priority.
He praised the state government for its proactive approach, which includes setting up an Integrity Unit in each governmental agency and department.
“This initiative, under the leadership of the Premier of Sarawak, is commendable and aims to ensure good governance,” Yakup said at the BDA Integrity Pledge ceremony in Wisma Bintulu Auditorium today (June 14).
“Integrity involves more than just the elimination of corruption; it includes the adoption of values like honesty, trust, justice, responsibility, and transparency. These are crucial in enhancing our human capital development and improving public service delivery,” he added.
The ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Murshid Diraja Dr Juanda Jaya.
“To sustain this culture, BDA annually hosts an Integrity and Innovation Day, ensuring our services remain exemplary,” he said.
