KUCHING: Entrepreneurs are encouraged to take part in the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) Festival’s matching programme with importers from Hong Kong, Thailand and Brunei.

Sarawak FAMA deputy director of operations Ramli Mat Sani stated that Feb 24 and 25 would see the launch of a matching programme at Miri Bintang Megamall, where entrepreneurs could learn more about exporting their goods.

“We can now announce that we have three marketing agents in Thailand, Brunei and Thailand. It will take place in the morning and afternoon.

“Export-ready entrepreneurs can arrange to meet with them to learn more.

“It’s still valuable for us to get our products out there and into the market even if we can’t export,” he said.

For this reason, Ramli said during a press conference for the FAMA Festival on Friday (Feb 17) that entrepreneurs would be missing out if they did not attend.

In addition, they are cataloguing over 222 SKUs (stock keeping units) of products from 28 independent business owners in the Industri Asas Tani (IAT) sector, in addition to 88 SKUs in the Jualan Terus Dari Ladang (JTDL) sector.

“The supermarkets in Sarawak are invited to come and inspect our items, and we match them with existing entrepreneurs. Even if the product hasn’t yet hit store shelves, our platform will allow them to discuss selling them in stores, exporting them, and more.

“Our primary objective is to facilitate the export of goods from Brunei’s budding business community. Our primary goal is to expand our customer base beyond just Miri by working with promotional agents all around Brunei.

“We want to assist local business owners in expanding their sales into international markets like Thailand, Brunei and Hong Kong and not just in Miri.”

Ramli also mentioned that around 20 to 30 Miri-based business owners would be able to sign up for and take part in the company’s agrobazaar training course online.

He explained that using the agrobazaar platform, businesses in Sarawak could reach customers not just in Sarawak but all over Malaysia.

“Online agrobazaar buyers get vouchers at lower costs, thus it’s better to buy there. Sarawakians can buy at online agrobazaar and obtain a voucher at a lower price than in stores.”
