KUCHING: The Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) will be organising a joint Christmas service at the Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre here on Dec 15.
ACS secretary-general Ambrose Linang said the theme for this year is ‘The People That Walked In Darkness Have Seen A Great Light’ and that the service will be hosted by the Catholic Church.
“Catholic Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kuching and ACS chairman Simon Poh will share the reflection on the theme, and Monsignor William Sabang will lead the opening prayer,” he said in a press conference on Tuesday (Dec 13).
He also said the reading of scripture and intercessory prayers will be done in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin, Melanau, Bukar Sadong, Biatah and Iban.
“In addition, there shall be prayers for there who have lost their job, source of income in this pandemic, those who suffer loneliness, rejection and dejection, for the migrants, and refugees, displaced by war and conflicts, for families around the world, unity and reconciliation, for Christian unity in bringing the ray of hope to the world and for our nation, government, peace and stability to care for the people,” he said.
Ambrose also said there will be a combined choir led by Stephen Chin.
“All Christian members of the state and federal, heads of departments and community leaders have been invited to attend.
“Representatives of interfaith groups such as Buddhist, Hindu, Bahai and Sikh who had attended our previous functions in the past have also been invited,” he said.
