MIRI: The Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) yesterday received 1,000 face masks for its members who are in the front line doing news coverage during the movement control order (MCO) due to Covid-19.

The face masks were donated by Senator Alan Ling.

NSJA president Andy Jong said the media would continue to play an important role as one of the frontliners in delivering the latest and accurate information to the public.

He reminded fellow journalists to always take extra precautions to ensure their safety and not get infected by the virus.

Thanking Senator Ling for the face masks, Jong said the face masks and hand sanitisers were crucial protective gears needed by the media when attending to news coverage.

He revealed that NSJA had also received face masks from Dr Ting Tiong Choon, political secretary to Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen and from the Youth section of Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, among others.
