BETONG: Sarawak’s journey for six decades since 1963 provides a solid foundation to move forward in line with the slogan ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur’.
Betong Member of Parliament Dr Richard Rapu said the celebration of Sarawak’s independence is therefore quite meaningful and significant for the people.
“I am confident of the slogan ‘Sarawak Maju Makmur’ under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government will be able to steer this region forward,” he said while representing Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at the Sarawak Merdeka Convoy Betong Division flag-off here, yesterday.
He said under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy Plan 2030, Bumi Kenyalang envisages becoming a developed region by that time.
Therefore, he said, it is very important for all parties to preserve and maintain unity.
“When we are united and there are no disputes, our leaders can implement the development agenda smoothly,” he said.
