Presenting to you the 11 Sarawakian finalists who will compete in the grand finale of Miss Stellar World Malaysia (MSWM) Borneo this June.

Miss Stellar World Malaysia Borneo: Introducing the 11 finalists

Beginning as early as the first week of March, Kimi Tomas, the Borneo director and Ambassador of Empowerment for Miss Stellar World Malaysia (MSWM), along with her team members, has been searching for Bornean ladies to represent the region and showcase its rich legacy to the world.

After nearly a month of searching for potential candidates from Kuching to Miri, Kimi and her team have discovered 11 outstanding women who will compete in the grand finale at the end of June.

When interviewed by New Sarawak Tribune, the Borneo director expressed her sincere gratitude to everyone who had assisted her and her team during the auditions in Sarawak.

“I’ve been able to realise my dream of holding this beauty pageant thanks to all of your support; you are my inspiration and source of strength.

“I also want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the continuous commitment and hard work of Kelab Seni Budaya Anak Sarawak (KESERA). Special thanks go to my assistant director, Noreen Manggie; Padila Jiahong, the MSWM Borneo stage director; Chen Nie Bunyau, the MSWM Borneo event manager; Gilbert Headhunter, the MSWM Borneo designer; Sawang Purah, the MSWM Borneo coach; and Hilary Harrison, the MSWM Borneo image consultant,” she said.

Here are the faces of the 11 finalists who will square off on finale night at the Grand Riverine Ballroom, Lok Thian, in Kuching on June 30.

Fiza Lucas, 22, Iban-Melanau (Bintulu)

My goal is to inspire youth to develop a real sense of self-worth, ensuring they are better positioned to take responsibility for themselves. By believing in their power and potential, they can build a better future for themselves.

Praty Sofia, 23, Iban (Bintulu)

I believe this platform offers a tremendous opportunity to raise awareness about breast cancer and to underscore the importance of education for young generations. Winning this competition is undoubtedly a dream of mine, but leaving a lasting inspiration for others is my ultimate goal.

Phoebe Chloe, 19, Orang Ulu-Iban (Miri)

Growing up in a society and community filled with diverse personalities, I realised that I was too scared to voice my problems and instead kept them to myself. However, earlier this year, I met someone who encouraged and motivated me to become the person I am today. Just like the saying, ‘not all heroes wear capes,’ this is how my life turned for the better. I want to show the world that I am a spokesperson for everyone, including myself, because one voice is for all, and all voices are for one.

Marryna Yong, 24, Iban-Chinese (Miri)

Body shaming is a powerful negative act that can be emotionally destructive. To all women: increase your health awareness, make a change, embrace your body, and transform your life. Let’s fight bullying. Let’s stand up and help make a positive transformation in our society.

Adline Teo, 26, Orang Ulu-Chinese (Sibu)

I aspire to inspire the younger generation to embrace diversity and contribute positively to society. By highlighting the importance of inclusion and advocating for attention to minority communities in Borneo, I strive to pave the way for a more equitable future. Join me as I step out of my comfort zone and embark on a journey towards a brighter tomorrow.

Jesrina Roslivia, 27, Bidayuh (Sibu)

I want to share the lives of cleft children with the world — to help them accept their facial condition sincerely, as not all people can accept the situation in the beginning. As a mother to these kids, we must become their strength and give them a pillar of support as they grow up and live in this world.

Aishah Jalani, 24, Malay-Chinese (Kuching)

I wish to advocate for mental health awareness, and I will reach out to empower others to shine. I want to be the voice of the voiceless. There is no reason to be ashamed of who you are. Be bigger than your fear.

Nicole Gabriella, 22, Bidayuh (Kuching)

My goal is to advocate and show my support for orphans so that they can grow and become successful individuals. We must continue helping them mentally and physically so they can one day break the cycle of abandonment and poverty and raise happy families of their own. Together, let’s lift orphans from surviving to thriving.

Jaqqualyne Augustine, 26, Iban (Kuching)

I would like to open the women’s eyes and minds to the fact that this competition is not just all about beauty but also a platform for us to share our respective stories, ambitions, and careers. To me, every woman, regardless of their marital status, has the right to something valuable in her life.

Nara Kennedy, 24, Iban (Kuching)

Education is very important because it provides lasting effects for the individual and for the rising generation. I believe that education is not only beneficial to us in terms of pay, but it can also change the way we think and interact with those around us. Let us continue to share with others how education can change each individual’s life for the better.

Doraty Ann, 26, Bidayuh (Kuching)

As someone deeply passionate about beauty and women’s empowerment, I’ve wholeheartedly chosen to pursue a career as a beautician. I believe that every woman deserves to feel beautiful and empowered, and my work allows me to make that belief a reality. Through my advocacy, I strive to empower women to embrace their uniqueness and shine in every aspect of their lives, knowing that beauty and empowerment go hand in hand, especially in the dynamic reality of a pageant show.
