KUCHING: Despite rumours of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) deputy president Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem jumping ship to Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), all looks to be well.
Riot was present during the party’s monthly Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting here yesterday.
He was said to have engaged in the party’s planning, and the general mood was jovial – vice-president Datuk Lily Yong even popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate her new status as a grandmother.
The three-hour closed-door meeting ended with Riot and president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian having a face-to-face discussion at a corner of the room.
When approached later, Riot made a hasty retreat, saying he did not want to comment else he be misquoted.
Dr Sim, when asked, said there was not much to say as secretary-general Datuk Sebastian Ting had already clarified Riot’s stand of being a SUPP man true and true.
He said there was nothing extraordinary about the CWC meeting as it was a routine meet on how they could continue with their services, and listening to the woes of the people.
Dr Sim said in the first two months, they had been with their Gabungan Parti Sarawak counterparts going to the ground to explain the role of the alliance.
“In the later stage, we will be discussing our party’s 60th anniversary, otherwise, it is work as usual,” he added.
