KUCHING: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak today (Sept 9) distributed the Jalur Gemilang and Sarawak flags to its staff members and the general public in conjunction with the National Month and Malaysia Day celebration.
JPJ director Norizan Jili officiated at the symbolic handing over of the Jalur Gemilang and Sarawak flags at the compound of the JPJ Sarawak Complex, Mile 12 Kuching-Serian Road near here.
He had earlier witnessed the operation of JPJ Mobile Drive-Through Counter.
Also present were JPJ Sarawak deputy director Erick Jusiang, Road Safety and Corporate Unit chief Christopher Alex and several JPJ senior officials.
The handing over of the national and state flags was also being carried out at all JPJ branch offices throughout the state, aimed at strengthening the spirit of Merdeka among JPJ employees and members of the public present.
The distribution of the flags was also held in conjunction with the National Month celebrations, which started from Aug 18 until Sept 16.
Later, Norizan and Erick also presented souvenirs to JPJ customers who came to pay their summons, taking advantage of 70 percent reduction offered by the department until middle of this month. The 70 percent discount was offered as an incentive to encourage customers to pay their outstanding summons. Terms and conditions, however, apply.
