KUCHING: In a ‘colourful reminder’ to motorists, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) here has painted a clear picture: parking on yellow lines is a shade too bold.
With the potential to transform a motorist’s day from sunny to stormy, non-compliance notices loom like dark rain clouds, ready to unleash a compound of up to RM200.
Motorists are now urged to steer clear of the forbidden yellow zone, lest they face the consequence of an unwelcome penalty. It is a tale of cautionary lines, where parking on the wrong side could leave one feeling anything but golden.
Last Tuesday (May 16), the JPJ motorcycle patrol unit conducted an operation near the Kuching International Airport and the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway.
A total of 46 traffic offences were detected throughout the operation. Notably, 12 non-compliance notices were issued for parking on yellow lines.
These notices were issued under Rule 12(3A) of the Road Traffic Rules 1959, which provides for a compound up to RM200.
The other offences uncovered by the team include driving without a valid licence, expired road tax, technical offences and failure to wear a seat belt while driving.
In light of this, motorists are reminded to always abide by the existing rules and regulations, as failure to do so can result in compound notices or court summonses.
JPJ stressed that they are committed to enforcing these laws and ensuring compliance among road users.
To facilitate the reporting of traffic complaints, the public are encouraged to utilise the e-Aduan@JPJ application or visit http://jpj.spab.gov.my and provide detailed information regarding any traffic-related issues.
