LONG SEPIGEN, SUNGAI SELUNGO, ULU BARAM: Bryan Mutang, 22, was the only one who turned up to be assisted when the Outreach team from JPN Special Mobile Unit Miri made a stop at Long Sepigen.
The Outreach team from JPN Special Mobile Unit Miri helped him to replace his old Mykad which he had applied for at the age of 12 years. Now 22 years old, he had to apply for a replacement before the age of 25.
Another person from Long Sepigen village assisted by the team was a Penan mother who came to check on the status of her application for “pindaan butiran sijil” (alteration of records) and late registration of Mykad. However, she was told her application, made in 2016, was still under process.
Most of the villagers of Long Spigen were not at home when the team came as they were out in their farms. Even the village’s chief, KK John Lajo was not around.
According to Sylvester Tausin, Head of the Special Division from JPN Sarawak headquarters in Kuching, who is leading to Outreach team, the JPN Outreach team has been to Long Sepigen where most of the villagers have their personal documents.
Long Sepigen is a 30-door Penan village located halfway between Long Selungo and Long Sait.
Asley Bujang, a 12-year and Primary Six pupil of SRK Long Sait, was the last person assisted by the team at Long Sait a day earlier. She came at 8.15pm when the team was still having dinner. Asley was unable to come when the counter opened during the day as her parents were out in their farm.
Asley will be in Form 1 at SMK Long San next year.
According to her mother, Barai Yaya,45, everyone in the family already had personal documents.
From Long Sepigen, the Outreach team went to Long Silat, the longhouse of Baram Member of Parliament, Anyie Ngau and Temenggong Joseph Lian Ngau.
