KUCHING: A dedicated Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) is the springboard for innovation and creativity in the Land and Survey Department (JTS) in the state.
In stating this, its director Datuk Abdullah Julaihi said the team acts as a catalyst for comprehensive improvement in all aspects at the department which in turn leads to the delivery of quality services that meet the needs of customers, stakeholders and industry.
“In JTS, we believe that teamwork with an intact union will lead the weak to be strong, and the less confident to be firmly disciplined towards preserving service delivery.
“That is why for the Innovation and Integrity Day of Land and Survey Sarawak (HIITS) this year we chose Innovation Sustaining Excellence in Service Delivery, a continuation of last year’s theme of Service Transformation driving Aspirations 2030,” he said.
He said this during the closing of the HIITS at Riverside Majestic Hotel on Saturday (Sept 18) evening.
According to him, the KIK group was made up of various grades of officers within the department who were required to share creative innovations towards improving services.
He disclosed that up to 2022, 178 KIK projects were made through HIITS which JTS had adapted in work processes and procedures.
“These KIK projects are presented to be audited and analysed at departmental, state and global KIK conventions to test their practicality to the reality of customer expectations,” he said.
In keeping to their mantra as an ‘agency to facilitate development’, Abdullah said the projects by 13 of their KIK teams this year had all qualified to the final rounds of the Sarawak Civil Service Innovation Convention Award (SCSICA) 2022 which will be held in October.
Aside from them, he stated that another two of their KIK teams will also be representing the state and country at the International Convention on Quality Control Circles 2022 (ICQCC) at Jakarta, Indonesia in November.
“Despite the journey to digitise the work process, we acknowledge that technology alone does not guarantee quality service delivery. Therefore, the management framework towards strengthening integrity has always been the prime agenda of our organisation.
“We believe that the four foundations of the formation of an organisation – human resources, processes and procedures, legal framework, and information technology – must have integrity in them.
“With the integrity in the foundations, it will surely ensure that the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 agenda will be realised through our game plan,” he said.
Meanwhile, during the same ceremony, 16 integrity officers also received a certificate of recognition from Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
And a ‘Guide Book for Strata Scheme’ produced by the department was also launched by Abang Johari.
