KAPIT : Judy Henry has created history by being the first woman Divisional Information Officer here.
She is also the 14th Divisional Information Officer (Senior Assistant Director) of the Information Department here.
She takes over from Koh Kumbong who opted for early retirement at the age of 58. Koh is also the first person to serve as the Divisional Information Officer of the Kapit Information Department twice.
Judy’s appointment here is her first posting to Kapit. She worked with Sarawak Rivers Board in 1994 before continuing her service with the Information Department Headquarters Kuching in 2009.
She was first attached to the “Pentarama” Unit, “Pusat Maklumat Rakyat”(PMR) Unit and later the Publishing Unit until March 2018.
Judy, who hails from Miri, is familiar with Kapit as she has been attending several official functions here. The simple handing over of duty ceremony was held at the Information Department Office here yesterday afternoon in the presence of Song District Information Officer, Joseph Laga senior officers and staff of the Information department here.
After retirement, Koh said for the next two or three months, he would focus on his daughter’s coming convocation, look after his parents and tend to his fruit gardens.
He added that he might get back to his hobby of fishing and hunting.
“I am also considering expanding my wife’s business here,” added Koh.
