BINTULU: Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi made a working visit to Tanjung Kidurong Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) here yesterday (Oct 14).
The Tanjung Kidurong CCPP, a prominent feature of the Bintulu Power Station, achieved full commissioning in 2022, boasting an impressive installed generation capacity of 842MW.
According to the statement by Sarawak Energy, during the visit, the Sarawak Energy Group Chief Operating Officer James Ung extended a warm welcome and delivered opening remarks while Bintulu Power Station Manager Cheling Sapong gave an informative briefing, providing a comprehensive overview of the facility.
Julaihi and his entourage were also given a tour of the power plant.
For the record, the Bintulu Power Station, with a substantial RM3.1 billion expansion investment, embarked on the construction of the Tanjung Kidurong CCPP in 2018.
It stated that this visionary project culminated in full operation in 2022, signalling a momentous stride toward augmenting the region’s power grid.
“This expansion holds the promise of bolstering the state’s energy generation capacity, paving the way for a more sustainable and technologically advanced power generation system,” it said
Moreover, the incorporation of advanced gas turbine technology has yielded remarkable results, with increased efficiency, amplified power output, and a substantial reduction in emissions.
“These advancements not only align with the region’s surging energy demands, catering to both individual customers and industrial partners across Sarawak, but also represent a decisive move towards cleaner energy.
