THE State Planning Authority (SPA) has received three applications for the development of petrol stations in Julau.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that one application was approved by the SPA on November 24, 2023, but the Provisional Approval has since expired.
“The applicant failed to submit the updated layout plan for formal approval within the stipulated time frame,” he said in his ministerial winding-up speech today (Nov 20).
“Meanwhile, the other two applications were rejected because they did not meet the requirements and guidelines set by the SPA,” Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development, added.
Earlier, during last week’s debate, Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin urged the government to expedite the development of a petrol station in Julau.
“The people of Meluan have long been without a petrol station and have to travel to Sibu Jaya to get fuel,” he said.
