KUCHING: A major jumble charity sale, Heart to Earth Market, took place at the Kuching Community Social Support Centre (CSSC), Wisma Ho Ho Lim yesterday (April 15).
The event was organised by Paradise Borneo in collaboration with Sarawak Women for Women Society (SWSS), the Salvation Army and Kuching CSSC.
Paradise Borneo managing director Lee Jai Qi said the event was a raffle to raise much-needed funds for children and domestic violence survivors.
“This sale is a sale in exchange for hope and joy, and a purchase is capable of providing care for those in need,” Lee told New Sarawak Tribune.
The event saw a variety of goods on sale including clothes, bags, toys, handmade flower bouquet, food and beverages with a starting price of RM2 up to RM19.
“We also offer ‘lelong’ (auction) of any kind of garments in one paper bag and people can put as many items as they want at RM19,” added Lee.
Apart from giving back to the community, digital creator of Paradise Borneo Adeline Ling said the Heart to Earth Market was held in conjunction with the Earth Month.
“It is our initiative to contribute more to an eco-friendly and sustainable environment by encouraging people to bring their own bag and repurposing donated items,” she said.
She added with only RM15, the people could learn by way of ‘do-it-yourself’ (DIY) scrunchies from used clothes in a sewing workshop by Festi Vava.
More than 30 volunteers came to help and contribute to the jumble sale market.
