MIRI: An adult and two juveniles aged 14 and 16 were detained by Miri General Operations Force (GOF) during two raids held in Taman Tunku Tuesday morning.

During the 11.30am raids, GOF also seized smuggled beers, cigarettes, liquors and two lorries laden with contrabands valued at RM608,715.

The first raid was made on a building in Taman Tunku, before the team was led by the suspects to a house located at the same area.

More contraband goods were discovered stored in the house, said Miri GOF commanding officer Supt Tan Hiap Seng during a press conference held yesterday.

“The two juveniles were school drop-outs,” he said when asked by the media on the boys’ status.

The raids were made after a two-week surveillance works by Miri GOF team.

“We believed, the house was used as a storage for these contrabands to avoid detection,” he said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the syndicate has been running for about a year prior to the raids.
