KUCHING: A search and rescue mission has entered its fourth day but there is still no sign of a 10-year-old disabled girl, who was feared to have drowned after she slipped and fell into a river in Kabong, Saratok on Dec 23.

Bomba’s search and rescue (SAR) team had extended the search area to 8km radius towards Pantai Tanjung Kembang from the spot where she was believed to have slipped but to no avail.

Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir also joined the SAR operation yesterday.

A total of 73 people took part in yesterday’s search comprising four Bomba personnel, four policemen, 11 Rela members, 10 SK Abang Leman Parent-Teacher Association members, and 30 villagers.

So far, the only clue the team had were a pair of slippers and fishing gears found near a jetty and believed to belong to the girl.

Nur was reported missing around 6pm after she failed to return home. Her father identified only as Imam asked his son Nazri and daughter Ana to go out and look for her.

Nazri and Ana went searching until about 7.30pm when they spotted her slippers and fishing gears near the jetty, but Nur was nowhere in sight.

Suspecting something amiss, Nazri immediately made a police report. As at press time yesterday the girl was still not found.
