ROBAN: The Rural Electricity Supply (BELB) under the Additional or Late Application Fund (ALAF) scheme is hoped to continue its implementation to provide 24-hour electricity supply to village residents and new longhouses in rural areas.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said that although several villages in Saratok have already enjoyed electricity supply through the ALAF project amounting to RM2.5mil, there are still other areas in darkness.

He said a dialogue session was recently held with the residents of Kampung Perpat, the Kalaka assemblyman’s service centre, and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) to continue the implementation of the ALAF project.

“This clearly demonstrates that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is very concerned about the basic facilities needed by the people.

“Special assistance continues to be extended to those who need it.

“However, for new residences that have not yet enjoyed 24-hour electricity supply, I hope SEB’s initiative to help the people can be continued and its implementation expedited.”

He said this after inspecting the progress of the installation of a 160 kVA 11/.433 volt Transformer and low-voltage distribution system at residential lots in Kampung Melayu Roban Phase One yesterday.

He said he was committed to ensuring that 24-hour electricity supply from the SEB grid is enjoyed by rural residents, including in the Kalaka constituency.

Mohamad stressed that every contractor involved should adhere to the project implementation schedule as stipulated in the contract with SEB.

“I also request internal wiring contractors to submit AC01 forms promptly so that the deposit payment process and meter fee can be implemented by the applicant, followed by meter installation by SEB.

“Furthermore, I would like to draw SEB’s attention to the request for personal switching placements in Kabong and Saratok due to the long travel distances, which will slow down the power supply restoration process.

“The outage time due to electricity supply interruption will increase due to the failure of personal switching to change faulty ABFI fuses.”

Mohamad also expressed his gratitude to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for the high commitment of the Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications in approving several ALAF projects in the Kalaka constituency.
