SARATOK: Proper sports development programmes at the school level can produce talented young athletes.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri believes that efforts to unearth children’s talents from an early age in schools should be nurtured.
“I always support various efforts to develop the potential of children.
“Therefore, I believe that proper sports development programmes at the school level are necessary to nurture talented young athletes,” he said when asked after the Under-12 Football Championship (TKB) of the Betong Division Schools Sports Council (MSSB) 2024 at the Saratok Mini Stadium yesterday.
He emphasised that championships like this are crucial platforms to identify talented individuals for advancement to higher levels.
“This requires commitment from all parties. It also requires parental support.
“We hope that children from the Saratok District can progress far.”
Mohamad also watched the final group stage match between the Saratok Zone and the Roban Zone.
In this championship, eight zones participated, including Debak, Pusa, Saratok, Roban, Krian, Kabong, Betong, and Spaoh.
Fifteen of the best players from the Betong Division will be selected to challenge teams from the division at the state level.
