A Singaporean man suspected of attacking and injuring actor Kamal Adli has been remanded for another week, as police seek to complete his medical examination at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH).
In a recent news report, Singapore district judge Terence Tay said that the suspect’s stay at the IMH will be extended for another seven days.
“I have allowed an application for the suspect to be remanded for another seven days at the IMH, and the case will be mentioned again on April 4,” he said.
Earlier, the 33-year-old suspect was remanded for two weeks on March 14 to facilitate his psychiatric evaluation.
He was detained on the same day for allegedly attacking and injuring Kamal with a dangerous weapon.
If he is found guilty, he can face seven years’ jail, caning, a fine, or a combination of all three under Section 324 of the Singapore Penal Code. Kamal, 36, was attacked with a baton at Singapore’s Expo Drive event that he attended with his wife, Uqasha Senrose, and suffered serious injuries to his head.
At the time of the attack, the couple was in a meet-and-greet session with fans at the Hari Raya Mega Sale 2023 at the venue. It was believed that the motive behind the attack was jealousy
