ACTOR Kamal Adli says the two-year, four-month and two-week jail sentence meted out by the Singapore court recently to the individual who brutally attacked him last year is not sufficient.
The 38-year-old said it seemed that the individual had gotten it easy as he used mental problem (hallucinating) as an excuse for the attack without any reasonable grounds.
On March 12, last year, Muhammad Nabil Rashid assaulted the actor using an extendable baton at the Mega Hari Raya 2023 Sales event, which took place at the Singapore Expo.
Kamal suffered serious head injuries as well as facial wounds, one of which needed four stitches following the attack.
“I had just found out about the court’s decision and I find that the jail term is too short. Throughout the proceeding period, I, the victim, wasn’t even contacted or updated on the case by the Singapore court.
“I only knew that he used the excuse of being delusional when he committed the crime against me. At the time, he even spread slander against me and claimed that I had molested his niece.
“He didn’t hit my body, but he intentionally attacked my head! Not only had I been harmed, but it also affected my livelihood, as the trauma made it difficult for me to go out to work. It took me at least six months to recover.”
Kamal also shared his disappointment with the organiser, “Not only did the organiser fail to handle the security issues appropriately, but they also never checked on me after the incident, apart from footing the hospital bill,” he said.
