KUCHING: The song ‘Kamek Mileh Nancy’ rang out all over Medan Selera and Townsquare Market in Sematan as the GPS Santubong candidate, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri entered the eighth day of her election campaign.

The song was played for the first time today as a surprise gift for voters in the Santubong constituency.

Penned by former rector of Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA) Professor Dr Sahar Sa’di Hashim it tells about happiness and joy, and was sung by students of ASWARA.

According to him, it was written for her based on her sincere personality in fulfilling her task as the Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture and member of the parliament.

In the meantime, Nancy and Tanjung Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan campaigned at Kg Metang Terap, Kg Bengang, Kg Sileng Dayak and Kg Sileng Melayu.

She also attended the Cakna Kraf Knowledge Expanding programme, organised by Malaysia Handcraft Development Corporation.

The main objective of Cakna Kraf is to preserve the art of local craft for the sustainability of the country’s craft industry.

The programme witnessed the handover of Cakna Kraf 2022 education kits for batik colouring activities and woven rattan baskets to five schools.

Nancy then met the residents of Pandan zone from Kg Bajo, Kg Pandan, Kg Bulengei and Kg Pugu at Kg Bajo hall.

In her speech, she stated that GPS needs to win the 15th general election (GE15) because there is a need for a bigger voice in continuing the fight for Sarawak’s rights in parliament.

“I ask all of you to give the strongest support to GPS.

“We need to show our strength in parliament and we need to make sure the policies made by the federal government are beneficial for us here,” she said.
