SIBU: Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee has cautioned homeowners in the Kampung Datu Baru redevelopment site against transferring their property ownership to third parties.
He said that it is clearly stated in Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code that properties in the area cannot be sold or dealt with in any way.
“If there are those intending to change their house ownership, it must be transferred to their heirs, but only after obtaining approval from the Land and Survey Department director.
“So to anyone thinking of selling to a third party – stop harbouring that intention,” he said when met by reporters after attending a dialogue session with the homeowners of Kampung Datu Baru redevelopment yesterday (July 27).
Alluding to house renovation, the Nangka assemblyman advises the homeowners to provide designs before any alterations are made.
“Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) has approved three types of renovation plan to ensure standardisation of design and to keep the area neat and tidy.
“Any alteration to the approved designs, including plans to renovate the rear of the house, would require the approval of SMC,” he added.
In response to requests from homeowners to renovate the back part of their houses, Dr Annuar mentioned that he would discuss with LCDA about creating an additional design option for the rear of the houses.
The houses in Kampung Datu Baru are 850 square feet in size and include three rooms and two bathrooms.
