KUCHING: Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) announced the implementation of the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in Kampung Emperoh Jambu, Padawan starting from 12.01am on Feb 23 until 11.59pm on March 8.
SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the decision was made by the committee after conducting Covid-19 risk assessment involving three districts.
“The Emperoh Jambu Cluster involves Kuching, Samarahan and Serian districts. It is a community cluster that happened in Kampung Emperoh Jambu in Padawan, Kuching.
“As of Monday (Feb 22), 60 cases were found to be Covid-19 positive including the index case while 40 cases were negative and 237 cases are still waiting for their results,” he said.
He explained that the decision was made to contain the spread of Covid-19 and there was no death involving the cluster.
Uggah added the implementation of EMCO had been extended in the Sibu Jaya flat and Town Villa housing area in Sibu.
“The EMCO will be in effect starting from 12.01am on Feb 26 until 11.59pm on March 4,” he said.
Sibu district recorded 63 new Covid-19 cases on Monday (Feb 22); 43 cases were individual screened through active case detection (ACD), seven cases respectively from other Covid-19 screenings and screenings of health officers at health facilities as well as three cases respectively involving symptomatic individuals and the Pasai Cluster.
