SARATOK: A total of RM1.4 million allocated under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for the Kalaka constituency last year was distributed for three main projects in Kampung Kupang here.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said half of the amount was for road construction to ensure better connectivity to the village.
“We don’t want the village to have only one exit.
“I admit it took a long time, but at least we have started the effort to build a second road.
“Alhamdulillah the first phase has been completed and now it has entered the second phase of implementation,” he told Suara Sarawak, recently.
He expressed his commitment to realise the completion of the road, albeit in stages.
“I am confident that when the road is completed it will continue on to the Pusa-Sessang route (Sungai Krian ferry), which is closer for the residents to use the Coastal Road,” he said.
Touching on two other projects, Mohamad stated that they involved a project to upgrade the drainage system in the village at a cost of RM300,000.
“Another is building a multipurpose hall with an allocation of RM400,000.”
He reminded the village heads to monitor the projects’ implementation to ensure that they follow the specifications.
“I trust them to monitor. If something is not right, please report it to the implementing agency.
“This is because we want to avoid wastage of funds. The whole village will lose if the implementation of the project is not done to specification, especially the drainage system project.
“Our aim is to ensure that the water can flow well, avoid stagnant water in the village and avoid flooding,” he added.
