BARAM: The Social Welfare Department (JKM) provided food aid to the fire victims in Kampung Long Seniei recently.
Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) reported that the process of delivering the food aid was assisted by the Fire and Rescue Department using a helicopter as the land access to the area has been cut off due to flood which hits Baram at the moment.
The food aid consisted of rice, sugar, wheat flour, cooking oil, instant noodles, salt, canned food and dry bread.
Occurring on Sept 9, the fire incident destroyed 30 rooms, thus leaving more than 600 victims homeless.
The Fire and Rescue Department has also been monitoring the flood situation in several locations such as Long Panai, Long Bemang, Long Laput and Long Lama, which are among the badly affected areas.
