Kampung Masjid fire victims receive aid

FRIENDLY... Satok Assemblyman, Datuk Ibrahim Baki together with Petra Jaya Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof presented a donation and said hello to Shamsuddin Bueng and Yusuf Derab when they visited the victims of the house fire in Kampung Segoleng, Jalan Datuk Ajibah Abol, Kuching today.

KUCHING: The victims of the fire incident in Kampung Masjid, Jalan Datuk Ajibah Abol received aid from the Petra Jaya Parliamentary Service Centre and Satok Service Centre to alleviate their burdens.

Eleven residents, including children and elderly aged from two to 62 years old were left homeless after the double-storey house was razed to the ground.

However, no casualties were reported as no occupants were reported to be at home when the fire occurred at around 9.10 am on Oct 23.

The contributions from Petra Jaya incumbent Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki were handed over to the victims on Monday evening (Oct 24).

The Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) head of Development of Kampung Masjid (Segoleng) Saperi Rambli said they are grateful that no casualties were reported and thanked all parties who are willing to provide immediate assistance to the victims.

“The victims received monetary aid and basic food necessities from the two service centres.

“We hope that the assistance received by the victims this time will lighten their burdens,” he told reporters.

Among the recipients of donations are Abdul Rahman Mataim; Aliman Mataim; Hajijah Mataim; Abet Mataim; Taib Mataim and Zarkiah Mataim.

Meanwhile, the tenants who also received donations are Yusuf Drap and Shamsuddin Bueng and his daughter, Futri Sofia.
For the record, the financial assistance were contribution from the two service centres while basic food donations were from the Satok Service Centre and the donated clothes were from Petra Jaya Service Centre.
