MIRI: The Rural Transformation Project (RTP) for 2024 has been approved with an allocation of RM100,000 to upgrade the Kampung Pasir Multipurpose Hall in the Lutong area, announced Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries, and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting on Wednesday.

During a site visit this morning, the Piasau assemblyman who was accompanied by his private secretary Chia Kah Furng, village chief Edward Mampo and local contractors, reviewed the restoration plan for the multipurpose hall.

The project is slated to be completed by the end of 2024, pending the successful completion of application procedures.

According to Ting, the RM100,000 allocated will go towards building an administration room adjacent to the hall, upgrading the ceiling, replacing doors and windows, renovating the existing toilet, adding two new toilets, and undertaking painting and other refurbishment work.

“The application for this Rural Transformation Project was made based on the requests from the villagers. We secured RM100,000 to carry out the needed upgrades, especially in increasing the number of toilets for the convenience of residents attending activities at the multipurpose hall,” said Ting.

This is not the first time the Kampung Pasir Multipurpose Hall has undergone restoration. In January 2022, the hall was refurbished under the 2021 Rural Transformation Project, receiving RM150,000 for structural improvements, including repairs to the dilapidated wooden structure and floor paving.

Ting encouraged the Village Development and Safety Committee, as well as the local community, to maximise the use of the upgraded hall by organising activities that promote health and recreation.

He also emphasised the importance of maintaining the hall’s cleanliness and surroundings to ensure it continues to serve as a valuable community hub.

The project is expected to greatly enhance the facilities for Kampung Pasir residents, offering them improved amenities for future events and activities.
