KANOWIT: The Kanowit Festival 2024 from Sept 20 to 22 offers a variety of exciting activities aimed at celebrating the region’s rich cultural heritage and fostering unity.

It is being organised by the Kanowit District Council and the Kanowit Parliament Service Centre in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP).

Aligned with the ‘Ini Warisan Kita’ initiative introduced by the National Unity Ministry (KPN), the festival will be a key feature of the flagship Kembara Perpaduan Madani programme, which promotes national unity through cultural appreciation.

Minister Datuk Aaron Agong Dagang said the festival will include a range of engaging events, such as the Kanowit RC Boat Challenge, Kanowit Power Boat Race, Fun Fair and Trade Fair, Rahmah sales, agency exhibitions, a traditional Adat Miring ceremony, the official launch of the Kanowit Waterfront, and the Kanowit Festival Queen competition.

“The festival not only celebrates our history and traditions but also acknowledges the diverse cultures that have shaped our identity,” said Datuk Aaron in a statement.
