KAPIT: Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants and donations totalling RM500,000 were handed over by Work Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi during separate events in Kapit and Song on Saturday.
A total of 88 beneficiaries, including the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and students, received the grants.
“The assistance is expected to help the recipients carry out programs that can benefit various parties,” said Nanta in his Facebook post.
During his visit, the Kapit MP also inspected the progress of the construction of Sekolah Rendah Nanga Temalat Song’s new building. The construction project, which commenced in early 2023, is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
“Apart from the school building, the project also encompasses the construction of new teacher quarters and dormitories for male and female students attending the school,” he added.
Furthermore, Nanta and his team assessed the condition of longhouses requiring improvement works during their visit to Rumah (Rh) Kanching, Nanga Sekedai, and Rh Kideng Nanga Sebuloh.
According to him, the purpose of these visits was to evaluate the needs of the communities and explore ways to provide support and aid for the necessary refurbishments.
Also present were Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan and Deputy Minister in Sarawak Premier’s Department (Native Law and Customs) Jefferson Jamit Unyat.
