KAPIT : Work on improving the Kapit Express Passenger Terminal is progressing well.
The project, according to Bukit Goram State Assemblyman, Jefferson Jamit Unyat, is scheduled to be completed by early May.
“We hope that it can be opened to the public before the Gawai Dayak Festival when a huge crowd of festive goers is expected to use the terminal which is the gateway to and from Kapit,” he said after inspecting work on the project recently.
Accompanying Jamit were the project contractor, Dato’ Yong Hua Sying, canteen operator at Kapit the Express Passenger Terminal, Ling Hang Kee, Chairman of SADIA Kapit Branch, Edward ManggahKendawang and Jamit’s assistant, Cochran Amos.
During the inspection, Jamit raised several questions which were answered by the project contractor.
Work on the RM4.8 million project, which aims to build a second platform for the transport of wet goods to and from Kapit and a conference room for the Sarawak Rivers Board on the first floor, commenced on 31 December, 2015. The architect is Arkitek while the engineer is Jurutera CMP (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd and the main contractor is Kyo Sinar Sdn Bhd.
