The PICKids programme at SK Methodist Kapit

KAPIT: The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids) here has been greeted favourably by parents.

Lenggie Jugah, 43, from Rh Panyau Ng Kemali Baleh, who accompanied his son Rodrizues Ampeng Lenggie, 7, said the programme was well implemented.

“This is a good initiative by the government and I am thankful that my son can be vaccinated against Covid-19.”

Meanwhile, Lita Saing, 36 from Rh Untang, Sg Yong, who accompanied her daughter Loveira Lumin Jeffry, 7, called on all parents or guardians to allow their children to be inoculated.

“Getting vaccinated does not mean that they will not be infected with Covid-19, but this vaccine can lessen the effects of infection,” she said when met by Kapit District Information Office staff monitoring the PICKids process on Tuesday (Feb 15).

The programme has been implemented in several schools in Kapit Division, namely SJK Hock Lam from Feb 7 to 9, SK Kampung Baru on Feb 10 and 11 while SK Methodist is the third school to implement it.

The Kapit District Health Office (PKB Kapit) will set up a vaccination centre for hostel students in the area. Among the schools targeted are SK Ulu Yong, SK Ng Yong, SK Sg Amang, SK Lepong Menuan, SK Sg Kapit, SK Kapit, SK Kg Baru, SK Sg Menuan, SK Ng Pelagus, SK Ng Encheremin, SK Ng Trusa and SK Lepong Balleh.

Parents and guardians can obtain information on the vaccination schedule from their respective schools.

On another matter, PKB Kapit informed that out-of -school children and those who are unable to attend appointments at their respective schools, the PPV for PICKids is open from Feb 25 to 26, and March 18 and 19 at Dewan Sri Balleh from 8am to 4pm.

Parents or guardians are requested to be with their children and they need to bring the children’s identity card and MyKid.

PKB Kapit also appealed to the public yet to get the booster dose to go to Kapit Health Clinic to receive the jab from 8am to 4pm (working days).
