KAPIT: As the people were tense and worried about the movement control order (MCO), Kapit folk yesterday morning were alarmed by the issue of murky water. The tap water was so dirty and had foul smell.
Rural Water Supply Department in a statement clarified that the cause was due to faulty pumps at its water treating plant at Nanga Man here.
Technicians were deployed to the scene at 4.15am on Sunday to repair the pumps which were restored and functioned shortly after 6am.
Around 8am the department began flushing process in its initial bid to flush out the murky water and hoping to restore clean water supply to the clients.
Coincidentally the electricity supply to Kapit was abruptly interrupted early yesterday morning thus affecting the power supply to the whole of Kapit Town and Selirik area.
When contacted, a spokesperson of Sesco Kapit said one of the equipment near to Bukit Workshop along Jalan Airport was burnt, suspected to be due to predawn lightning.
Technicians were seen replacing the burnt equipment and electricity was restored by 10.35am.
