KAPIT: The frequent water supply disruptions and murky tap water in Kapit town and surrounding areas are a concern for the residents.

Former Pelagus Assemblyman Larry Sng Wei Shien told the media that over the past days he received many calls from the Kapit town folks concerning water supply disruptions that caused much frustration to the locals.

“The murky tap water and water supply disruption have caused much frustration amongst the locals in Kapit. Given the under capacity of the existing water treatment plant and the limited allocation for the proposed extension of the plant, it is clear to me that this problem will continue for the foreseeable future,” he said.

“The relevant authorities need to resolve this issue without further delay otherwise we will still grappling with water supply and road connectivity issues,” he added.

According to a source at the Rural Water Supply Department here, the recent water supply interruption and murky tap water were due of the mechanical faults at the water treatment plant.
