SIBU: Sports Day is not just an opportunity to showcase athletic talents and youthful energy, but also a celebration of health, unity and the spirit of perseverance.

Pointing out this, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Kiang Hin Board of Management chairman, Kapitan So Teck Kee stressed that a healthy body is the foundation for learning and life.

“Through participation in sports, students not only strengthen their physical fitness but also cultivate a strong will and good habits.

“In today’s fast-paced society, where technology and electronic devices take up much of our daily lives, it is even more important to balance our physical and mental development through exercise, allowing us to maintain a healthy body and a positive attitude,” he said when officiating at the Joint Sports Day of SJKC Kiang Hin with Sekolah Menengah Kiang Hin held at Tun Zaidi Stadium here yesterday (Oct 5).

So also pointed out that sports day strengthen a spirit of teamwork, cooperation with everyone involve in the games.

“Regardless it is individual track and field or in team events, every moment tests and nurtures the ability to cooperate with each other,” he said.

“In any competition, students learn how to work with their teammates, how to find motivation in defeat, and how to remain humble in victory,” he stated adding that such qualities benefited students in their future studies and lives.

Touching on the meaningful aspect of the event, So pointed out that the joint effort of the two schools not only breaks the boundaries between the grades and classes, encouraging interaction and communication between students and teachers of different ages, but also fosters a stronger collaborative relationship between the two campuses.

“Through events like this, we can share resources and learn from each other, enriching students’ experiences and laying a solid foundation for future activities.

“I believe that with the continuous promotion of joint events, our students will not only excel academically and athletically but also grow in cooperation and communication,” he relayed.

Adding on, he said every challenge they face is a chance to improve and every interaction they have is a moment to deepen understanding and build friendships.

“I sincerely hope that such meaningful sports event can be held regularly, expanding their impact and involving more students and teachers in the joys and benefits of sports. At the same time, I also hope that the collaboration between the primary and secondary schools will grow closer, benefiting more students and making our campus more united, harmonious, and full of vitality,” So added.

About 500 students from the two schools took part in the event.

Also in attendance were SM Kiang Hin Board of Management chairman, Teo Kin Hing, SM Kiang Hin principal, Tang Siong Sing and SJKC Kiang Hin headmaster, Ling Ing Kiong.
