KUCHING: Katibas residents are poised to benefit from further development following the government’s allocation of RM105 million for the construction of the Katibas-Bangkit Bridge and a road to Sungai Bangkit.
A grateful Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan thanked Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for the allocation.
“On behalf of the people of Katibas, I would like to extend our appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to the premier for approving the proposed projects.
“This new development will have a great impact on our socio-economy and subsequently help to reduce the poverty rate,” he said yesterday (June 7).
He said it was a great gift to the people of Song soon after the Katibas constituency was secured in the last state election.
“I hope and urge the people in Katibas to give their full support and work together to ensure all our government projects run smoothly.
“It is only by working together can we progress and move forward to achieve a high income state status by 2030,” he said.
On Monday (June 6), when attending the tea banquet in conjunction with the state-level official birthday celebration of Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVI Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at Kapit Town Square, Abang Johari announced a RM353 million allocation for Kapit’s development.
Part of the allocation will be for upgrading of roads throughout Kapit, road construction connecting Ulu Sungai Katibas and Jalan Sungai Bangkit, and for the construction of a power grid from Kapit to Tunoh.
