KUCHING: A total of 10,000 visitors are expected to flock to the Kaul Festival 2024, which will be held in Mukah from July 15 to July 21.
The chairman of the Mukah Kaul Main Committee, Abdul Yakub Arbi, stated that this year’s event, held in collaboration with the Sarawak Foundation for Unity (YPS) as a strategic partner, aims to enhance the celebration.
He mentioned that this year’s festival will showcase the uniqueness of the Kaul and the Melanau community.
Abdul Yakub added that his team, along with YPS, will diversify promotional activities by leveraging social media platforms.
“Among the initiatives undertaken by the Sarawak Foundation for Unity are several short documentaries about the unique traditions of the Melanau community, which will be featured across all YPS social media platforms.
“Thus far, I have been informed by YPS that they have received remarkable feedback and shares, especially among the younger generation. I am very pleased and would like to congratulate and thank YPS for this initiative,” he said.
He said this during a press conference at Hotel Harbour View here today (July11).
For the record, the Kaul Festival has been included in the tourism calendar as an annual event held in Mukah.
Traditionally, Kaul is celebrated by the Melanau community in the month of Pengejin, which is either in March or April each year.
