KBA, Saspa hold workshop for players, coaches and teachers

KUCHING:  The Kuching Badminton Association (KBA) and Sarawak Sports Psychology Association (Saspa) organised a sports psychology skills workshop for its badminton players, coaches and teachers as part of their training regime in preparation for tournaments. It collaborated with the Sarawak Sports Psychology Association (Saspa) who provided the sports psychology services for their players in reaching out their potentials.

The Marketing Management Services Sdn Bhd supported the event as part of its commitment in their corporate social responsibility. Dr Garry Kuan from Brunel University, London and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) conducted the workshop and assisted by Dr Chin Ngien Siong from Saspa. Garry is considered as the best in his expertise in neurobiofeedback, imagery, music, transcranial magnetic stimulation, mental toughness and psychological skills training in enhancing sports performance.

Johnny Ng, the head coach of KBA stated that the importance of integrating mental skills training into their coaching practice, regime and performance which is essential in developing successful players. The workshop was able to engage the players’ inner self and help them to implement the psychological skills in their daily training. He thanked senior manager of Market Management Services Sdn Bhd May Tan Mee Tziau and Dr Chin Ngien Siong for their collaboration in organising the workshop.
