KAPIT: Kapit Chinese Chamber of Commerce (KCCC) has finally fulfilled its pledge to assist SJKC Hock Lam for its school building fund project with their contribution of RM50,000.
The presentation of the cheque ceremony was held to coincide with the KCCC 22th Office Bearers 2017 to 2018 installation and membership dinner held at a local restaurant here recently that was attended by about one hundred eighty members.
At hand to present the contribution on behalf of the chamber was it’s treasurer Kapitan Yiap Yii Hoo who handed over the cheque to the headmaster of SJKC Hock Lam Wong Siew Ching.
Witnessing the handing over was Bukit Goram State Assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat and the committee members of KCCC.
KCCC President Ling Hung Pin told that SJKC Hock Lam had constructed a three-storey classroom block and the construction which is almost completed. The cost of the construction work is about RM1.5 million. The school has raised funds through various activities for the new classroom block projects that could help to ease the congestion problems of the classrooms faced by the school.
“The chamber is doing our corporate social responsibility to help the school. After all this is the only Chinese-aided primary school in the district where the pupils have the opportunity to learn Bahasa Mandarin.
“Although it’s a Chinese school out of the 700 pupils, almost 50 per cent are Bumiputera. We all have a role to support the school. Today we donate fund. Earlier we also sponsored computers to the school so that pupils have the chance to learn,” Ling said.
