KAPIT: The Sports and Recreational Club of Kapit District Council (Kadico) held a Gawai ngiling bidai cum Raya gathering at a restaurant here recently to mark the end of Gawai Dayak and to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa among its staff and councillors.

The event coincided with the end of the council’s second quarter full Council meeting.

In his opening remark at the function, Council secretary Jabang Juntan said it has been the tradition of the club to celebrate each festive season together with the multi-racial staff and councillors.

“Such gathering helps to enhance cooperation and rapport between the councillors and staff to provide efficient and effective service delivery to the people. Tonight apart from celebrating Gawai and Hari Raya simultaneously we also welcome several new staff of the councillor and to bid farewell to those being transfered and those going on mandatory retirement,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kapit Walikota Datuk Philimon Nuing also said that this could be his last term serving the council along with several councillors whose term of service will end June 30 this year.
