KAPIT: Kapit District Council (KDC) in collaboration with Kapit Lions Club and the Fire and Rescue Department Kapit (Bomba) recently held a meeting on Thursday afternoon to discuss holding joint fire drill simulation exercise for the council staff.

The organising chairman Anthony Jalin from Kapit Lions Club said the simulation exercise was crucial so that the staff would know how to evacuate safely out of the office in the event of fire.

“In emergency situations, it is important that one has the basic knowledge of saving themselves and how to escape from a burning building,” he added.

The council secretary Jabang Juntan said the fire drill would be one of the preventive measures to impart knowledge among the council staff in times of emergencies.

He added that safety has been the main concern.

“We want everyone to know the dangers of fire and how to escape during a fire breakout,” said Jabang.

Also present at the meeting were Bomba officer Erwandy Tugor, Kapit Lions Club president Sng Geok Yien, KDC senior assistant environmental health officer Favian Masing Lintang, Kapit Lions Club members and KDC senior officers.
