LIMBANG: The Kedayan Limbang Association will soon have its own building next to SJKC Yuk Hin Limbang.

Deputy Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the initial site previously approved was unsuitable due to its location on a hillside, which led to its relocation to a new site near the school.

“We have held several meetings with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to request additional funding to construct the building on the new 4.5-acre site.

“Alhamdulillah, an additional RM19 million has been approved, on top of the previously approved allocation, bringing the total to RM25 million,” he sad.

He added that at the moment, the association does not have its own office to operate from, unlike the Sarawak Bisaya Association and the Malay Limbang Association.

“So, the construction of this building is very much needed and eagerly awaited by the Kedayan community in Limbang,” he said during the association’s triennial general meeting for the 2024-2027 term, here on Saturday (Sept 28).
