KUCHING: Sarawak President Cup chief coach Jalil Rambli wants his charges to be more mature in their attitude in their coming matches.
According to the former Sarawak captain, the failure of his players to control their feelings has led to their loss against Terengganu FC III at Miri Stadium recently.
The squad’s long break will now be utilised to nurture the players both emotionally and mentally.
Sarawak will next face Kuala Lumpur away on March 30.
To prepare for the KL encounter, the team will hold three friendly matches on March 23, 24 and 26.
They will play against Miri Selection on March 23, Rangers Kota from Brunei on March 24 and Kelab Rekreasi Petroliam (KRP) squad on March 26.
“During the Terengganu match, some players failed to control their emotions when under pressure which caused them to lose their focus in the match.
“I hope they will not lose their composure after this,” said Jalil.
“A number of controversial decisions by the referee have angered our players and the disappointment caused them to lose their cool,” he said.
However, Jalil was satisfied with the team’s performance after playng five matches.
The team won once, drew once and lost three matches
“Obviously, there are changes in every game but more importantly, I want the players to understand the instructions,” said Jalil.
Meanwhile, Jalil has three former Sarawak players as assistant coaches, namely Pengiran Bala (striker), Abu Bakar Amran (midfielder) and Jahar Nor (goalkeeper).
