KUCHING: The highly anticipated 19th Babulang Festival and Buffalo Race (PLBK) is set to take place from June 7 to 9.
Organised by the Sarawak Bisaya Association, people from around the world will be invited to experience the various activities planned at the festival site in Batu Danau, Limbang.
“Themed ‘Sapakat Nagap Adat’, PLBK 2024 is poised to be our most vibrant and engaging festival yet.
“Whether you are a regular attendee or a newcomer, prepare to be captivated by the sights, sounds, and flavours of the Babulang Festival.
“Building on the success of previous years, the festival will continue with the watch, experience and buy (WEB) concept which has consistently attracted larger crowds since it was first started in 2022,” association president Joseph Blandoi said in a recent statement.
He said the activities are designed to appeal to people of all ages, from cultural enthusiasts to craft or souvenirs collectors.
“The festival will feature its signature events — the beauty pageant (agak asal), buffalo race (lumba karabau) and Nakod Babulang (welcoming the guest of honour).
“Other events include gong beating competition (tanding bagandang), raft decoration and ride, traditional songs and music performances including that of other ethnics in Limbang Division, tug of war (bintal kalat) and the open house,” he added.
